This unique photo event was a blast at Shadowbend Park. Thanks to the collaboration of photographers, the event was significant and memorable for all. It is amazing what can be accomplished and learned through teamwork. Models, photographers and volunteers, all did a great job.

SPEAKER OF THE MONTH Matthew White, Sports Photography, he showed us how to take action pictures. He addressed some of the issues faced by professional sports photographers and related them to those faced by day to day photographers forced to shoot outside their comfort zone in high action / low light action photography. WPC thanks Matt for his great educational presentation. Take a look at Matthew's photography here RECENT PAST EVENTS

NEW MEMBER UNDER SPOTLIGHT Our spotlight shines on New Members: Robert Holler &Vu Banh
Robert Holler, in his own words: "I have been doing a lot of travelling overseas over the past several years and that's given me a chance to photograph some very interesting, even exotic, places. Unfortunately, until digital came along, I never progressed much farther than a snapshots and an occasional really lucky shot. Now that I'm not travelling overseas as much, I'm looking for photo opportunites a little closer to home and would like to improve my ability to envision a good photograph before I take it. (relying more on skill and less on luck). I guess I must have some sort of rebellious streak, I chose Olympus over Nikon or Cannon and Corel PhotoDraw over Photoshop. Neither is exactly mainstream, but they work for me.Photographic influences or inspiration?? Texas nostalgia, mostly. I also enjoy manipulating photos to make them look more like paintings. Now I just need to figure out how to print them to complete the effect."
Vu Banh, he took his first photography class 15 yrs ago in high school, and fell in love. He became so obsessed that he quickly joined Yearbook for the remainder of that year and proved himself well enough that he became the photo editor the next year. He also became photo editor for the School Newspaper, Literary Magazine, and Senior Slide Show. Needless to say, he really enjoyed photography. He even setup a b&w darkroom at home. Throughout college, he had a job as an event photographer doing parties and such. Then photography fell to the wayside as he got more into computers and engineering classes got more difficult. He didn't really start up again until around 2000 when the first digital Canon Elph S100 became available. Then, he slowly got back into the swing of things. he has had about 5 different Elphs since then, but has been able to do almost everything he needed to with the compact cameras...until in 2006, he decided that he needed an SLR and that his old lenses needed to get some use again. So finally broke down and got his Canon 20D. He has now been getting more technically advanced with digital photography and learning more about Photoshop.
Influences:
Mainly Ansel Adams because of this breathtaking landscapes. He also likes the photojournalism style of National Geographic."
Thank you Bob and Vu, for sharing your background and passion in photography.
