John Lynch , won February mini contest with this image taken at Sunrise in Galveston with a Nikon D100, ISO 200, shutter speed 1/320, lens 28-70mm. Converted to B&W using Imaging Factory Convert to B&W Pro 3.0 plugin filter in Photoshop CS2. Printed on Epson Enhanced Matte paper with a Epson 2200 printer. Beautiful picture!

February Activities
At our regular meeting on February 13:

* Mike Guidry talked about Macro Photography, equipment, techniques, composition, etc. His presentation has been very interesting and educational. Thank you, Mike, for sharing your knowledge.

* Private Antique Car Collection field trip. Around twenty WPC members enjoyed taking pictures from the wonderful private car collection. Great camaraderie among members and beautiful cars to photograph.

* Special thanks go to Fred Vogt and Dot Mullinax for the snacks and refreshments.

SPEAKER Jim Fife, professional photographer, will be our speaker presenting different perspectives for photography "Focusing From Another Angle". Vision, intuition, creativity, and much more... Jim's expertise is on commercial photography such as advertising, catalogs, etc. for over twenty years. Do not miss this presentation.

MONTHLY MEETING & AWARDS CEREMONY. Prior our meeting, Joe Baraban and Gerard Vacca will judge our exhibit and during the meeting will give us a photo critique.

Saturday, April 8, 2006 -- 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM - EARTH DAY 16th annual Woodlands Earth Day Festival on Saturday, to celebrate Preserving Our Natural Environment. The event at Millennium Forest Dr. from 9 AM - 2:00 PM. Bring your pictures, share your hobby, photography, and have fun meeting all kind of people interested in photography. SPEAKER Randy Brewer, the presentation will be a general presentation on CCD Astro Photography. A little on DSLR photography. There is little difference between the two, but Randy is primarily skilled in pure CCD. This will cover how the photos were taken and processed.

2) Canon EOS Digital Rebel 6.3 Megapixel, $1,200. This camera was bought because of a job I was taking w/ a newspaper. I ended up not getting it, so it has been waiting for someone to use it. ABOUT OUR CLUB



The Woodlands Photography Club
is an organization formed
to support area photographers of all ages, skill levels, and interests to advance in their ability to create truly satisfying images.  In the process, we all become great friends, enjoy field trips and outings together, and learn from each other.

MEETINGS.
 We meet on the second Monday of every month from 6:30 to 9 P.M. at the Library just west of The Woodlands Pavilion(The Montgomery County South Branch Library
at 2101 Lake Robbins Dr.) in the meeting room immediately to your
left
as you enter the front doors. Visitors and the curious are always most welcome!

MEMBERSHIP. Anyone interested in photography, no matter what your age or level of experience (professional, amateur, or wannabe), is most welcome to join our club. Membership is a measly $20/person or $30/couple per year (worth getting married for!).

NEWSLETTER. Our monthly online newsletter goes out around the first week of each month (you are reading the current issue).  We keep all back issues archived on our club website.

MEMBER GALLERIES. Each member can have a gallery of his or her best images online. Contact Nolan Braud for gallery help (njbraud@hotmail.com).
